শুরু হয়ে গেছে পুজোর কাউন্টডাউন ,এখন পুজো মানেই বারোয়ারি পূজা , সারা বাংলা জুড়ে ,ভারত জুড়ে এমনকি পৃথিবীর অনেক দেশেই এখন বারোয়ারি দুর্গাপূজার প্রচলন, আজ থেকে কয়েকশো বছর আগে পুজো মানেই ছিল রাজবাড়ী বা জমিদার বাড়ির পুজো,1166 সনে 1755 খ্রিস্টাব্দে হুগলী জেলার গুপ্তিপাড়ার কয়েকজন যুবকের মনে হলো, কয়েকজন মিলে পূজা করলে কেমন হয়?....... বারোজন বন্ধু মিলে শুরু করলেন প্রথম জগদ্ধাত্রী পুজো,যার নাম বারো -ইয়ারি পূজা ,এটাই বঙ্গের প্রথম বারোয়ারি পুজো. 1820 সালের মেয়ে মাসে 'ফ্রেইন্ড অফ ইন্ডিয়া' তে যায় পুজো প্রসঙ্গে রিপোর্ট প্রকাশিত হয় ."...A new species of pooja which has been introduced intu Bengal within the last thirty yers called Barowaree....About thirty years ago,ai Guptipara near Santipoora,A town celebrated in Bengal for its numerous colleges A number of Bramhins formed a association for the celebration of pooja independently of the rule of theshastras.They elected twelve men as a commitee from which circumstance it takes its name and solicited subscriptions in all the sorrunding villages."
